Washington DC Museums

American History Museum

We could only choose only one Smithsonian museum to tour during our museum day and we chose the National Museum of American History. Mom wanted the girls to see the Inauguration Gowns and First Lady china patterns.

I noticed that the dressed weren’t presented in chronological order and were mixed between older and modern styles. Each dress showed how tall and size of each first lady. 

Right across the hall of First Ladies I found Abraham Lincoln’s original top hat and it’s considered one of the Institution’s most treasured objects.

Monument Bike Tour at Night

I wanted to find an activity that would keep the girls interest and be a unique way to see the sites. I came across the company Bike and Roll and after some research found out that they do monument bike tour at night. I was so excited to find something that would appeal to my tweens that are becoming pickier by the day. When we arrived we got all geared up with a helmet and a right sized bike. We also got a bottle of water and snack for the road.

Washington DC Trolley Tour

This last spring the girls finally learned more about our government and the revolutionary war. We decided that this would be the summer to visit Washington DC, Williamsburg and Jamestown. When we travel we have some rules: 

  1. Everyone gets to choose something special that you want to do/see
  2. Everyone gets a grumpy day
  3. Everyone gets to choose a good souvenir to remember the trip by
